Another Day, Another Vegan Burglary

Posted by on Oct 8, 2012 in Clothing, Events, News, Shopping | 1 comment

Following August’s theft at Vegan Treats, our friends at the Herbivore Clothing Company were informed early this morning that their store had been broken into.  (Oddly, all the large unisex tees in the store were stolen.)

Most expensively, their front door glass was smashed.  To raise funds for repairs, Herbivore Clothing is offering a short sale.  Support a great vegan business and get 10% off your entire purchase through tomorrow (plus free stickers!) when you use the  coupon code “brokenglass.”

Best of luck, Herbivore Clothing!

Get Cheeky to Help Vegan Treats Recover from Burglary

Posted by on Aug 17, 2012 in Clothing, News | 3 comments

According to Lehigh Valley Live,  earlier this week Vegan Treats was burglarized and $5,000 was taken.  Bethlehem police discovered that the rear door of the business had been damaged from the inside and drop box envelopes, used to store money, had been fished out and emptied.

The business is open and operating as normal, but the financial hit was significant for the small operation.  Want to help?  Coincidentally, Vegan Treats just launched a line of cheeky undies, available on their website, along with gift certificates, tees and tote bags.

Show your love and support for Vegan Treats and place an order!

And don’t forget to visit the Vegan Treats table on September 22nd at DC VegFest!

Falafel sandwich from Amsterdam Falafel Shop

Did you have a chance to swing by DC VegFest yesterday? It was a fun, event filled day with amazing speakers, sponsors and exhibitors, not to mention tons of delicious vegan food from local vendors. I walked away with three full bags stuffed with free swag, colorful t-shirts, informational pamphlets, giveaways, pins, stickers, a sneak peek of Isa Chandra Moskowitz‘s unreleased cookbook Vegan Pie in the Sky, a belly full of vegan treats, an adorable designer vegan jacket for the winter by Leanne at Vaute Couture, and of course, a to-go tub of vegan nacho cheeze from the Burrito Bandits.

Check out photos from DC VegFest on our Facebook page!

Tell us what you thought of this year’s DC VegFest and what your favorite food, speaker or booth was in our comments section.

This weekend is jammed packed with all kinds of stuff…

Saturday’s Events

The Washington Area Bicyclist Association is holding their anual 50 States & 13 Colonies. This ride is 60 plus miles long and hits all 50 State Streets. The 13 Colonies ride hits all the streets named for every one of the 13 original colonies and covers about 15 miles.  To celebrate the day’s feats, New Belgium Brewing will be hosting the 51st State After Party at the Grill From Ipanema. Stop by after the ride with your fellow comrades for a frosty Fat Tire and a delicious bite to eat. Beer, food and goodies will be available from 3:00-7:00pm. RSVP on Facebook.

Registration for the ride is closed so if you didn’t make it this year, maybe next! Check out other upcoming WABA Events.

I have been wanting to do this ride for a while now and I am finally going to get to do it this year! Super Excited!!! Plus it’s going to give me a good appetite for DC VegFest.

Speaking of, DC VegFest, is also this Saturday (if you haven’t heard!) at George Washington University from 11am to 6pm. There will be LOTS of vendors and LOTS of Vegan food! The first 500 people get a Compassion Over Killing gift tote filled with a bunch of goodies! So get there early!!! There will also be a host of great speakers at this years event including Michael Greger – Director of Public Health and Animal Agriculture at HSUSColleen Patrick-Goudreau – Vegan Chef & Award-Winning Author, Dawn Moncrieffe – Founder and Executive Director of A Well-Fed World, just to name a few. See the rest of the speakers, sponsors, and food vendor on the DC VegFest Website.

Sunday’s Events

Come out and enjoy an educational and entertaining afternoon with delicious food, a live music, silent auction, clowns and face painting for the kids, and an opportunity to visit with the Sanctuary’s many rescued residents. Colleen Patrick Goudreau, vegan cookbook author, will be the keynote speaker. I know it may be a hike for a lot of you DC residence but it is worth the trip out there if you haven’t been, find a couple people to carpool with, its only about an hour drive. Hope to see you out there!
