DC Vegan Drinks is a monthly social networking event for people interested in sharing veganism and advocating for animal rights. Our mission is to bring together people from all walks of life (lawyers, students, small business owners, etc…) to build a stronger community and promote the sharing of resources. There is no requirement except for an interest in veganism, animal rights, and to have a little after-work fun.

This month the event will be on a Wednesday during VegWeek and also starting an hour earlier at 6pm.

Next Drink: Wednesday April 25 from 6pm to 9pm
Where: Casa Oaxaca, 2106 18th ST NW Washington, D.C. 20009

It’s Day 4 of our 8-day Meat-Free Week! Check out the fun we’ve had in our event photos section, and don’t forget to submit your pics to amber@dcvegan.org for a chance to win an awesome prize pack!

Tonight, we head to Meridian Pint for Vegan Drinks with John Schlimm, author of The Tipsy Vegan.  Books can be purchased for $15 ($2 off the cover price!), and sales will benefit The Kindness Collective.

To help us celebrate, Meridian Pint will feature food and drink specials from the book, in addition to their regular menu.  Sip on Midori Sour Patch and Rum Tum Tum cocktails, and nosh on The Sluper’s Kale and Potato Soup, Corn & Poblano Shindig Salad, and Buxom Broccoli Sesame.

R.S.V.P. here.

One last tip: Today is the last day to take advantage of SouperGirl‘s online discount — use code “meatfree” for 10% off your order — so get your orders in!  You can still get 10% off in-store through Monday.

For your ease, our week’s calendar again:

If you want to print out the calendar here is the PDF version.

Meat-Free Week: 2nd Report from the Front Lines

Posted by on Feb 8, 2012 in DC Vegan Drinks, Events, Food, Meat-Free Week, Restaurants | 0 comments

This morning, we’re humming “Oh What A Night” and trying to change the lyrics to fit H Street.  (It’s harder than it sounds.)  But, really, what a night!  We’re so excited to hear how many of you hit up multiple H Street spots to indulge in as much veggie goodness as possible.  We indulged in the spicy, doughy Fat Tire Beer Brat Pie at Dangerously Delicious.  And this tweet from @djbays made our day: “Tasty vegan sausage & pepper sandwich at @GranvilleMoores last night. Pls keep it on the menu past meat-free week!”

Thank you, Meat-Free Week-ers; thank you, H Street; and thank you, Margaret Holwill, without whom we couldn’t have pulled it off!

Yesterday you went to H Street, but today the food comes to you.  It’s Food Truck Day!  Check out the full list of participating food trucks here.   Find the location of your fav on twitter, or use the Washingtonian’s handy dandy guide.  We’re excited to share that the Foljol Bros. new vegan item will be mushroom drunken noodles.  You can get it on their Volathai truck, which will be at 12th & G for lunch, 11:48-1:52 (their hours, not ours).

Eat up, DC!  And we’ll see you tomorrow at Vegan Drinks with The Tipsy Vegan!

P.S.  Soyummi is celebrating Meat-Free Week with deals on its pudding 4-packs at DC area Harris Teeter and Giant locations.  Get all the details on their website.
